Have a home web hosting company(Home Server)?

Hello

I am debating over what to do for my sites,Dedicated(quite exspensive),Reseller hosting (not enough space). I am thinking of having a home webserver- running cpanel/plesk, iwould possibly be reselling space.

Is this a good/bad idea?

Well, first off, Cpanel is expensive. Plesk is a bit more reasonable, but not as full-featured.

You would definitely need to check with your ISP. If they don't allow web servers, but you have one anyway, you're gonna loose your internet connection.

You also will need to be able to guaranty uptime. So you'll need to keep up with server upgrades, and be able to fix something if it goes bad. If your uptime is bad, no one is gonna pay you.

You'll also have to take care of legal aspects. Write a TOS and enforce it. If you choose not to write one, or not to enforce it, you'll be risking plenty of legal trouble.

First buy basic web hosting from websites like http://aplis.net/ and later if needed you can upgrade to whatever type you like.
