Would a 20GB hosting package be faster/better than a 200GB package?





I want an affordable hosting service with an email account that doesnt take forever to download pictures and text. Any suggestions?

Simply put this is the amount of data that is transferred to and from your website and is directly affected by the number of visitors that are concurrently using your site at the same time.





A simple illustration.


For instance picture a one way street with one lane.


Now lets assume that all drivers are allowed a maximum speed limit of 60 M.P.H.





If there are few motorists on that lane then every body can easily accelerate up-to 60 m.p.h. Now what if their is a traffic jam, then everybody will be forced to move with the prevailing traffic speed.





On the other hand to ease the traffic, more lanes can be added to ease congestion.





Therefore if you expect to have lots of visitors visiting your site, then the best thing to do is to get a higher bandwidth to avoid congestion and breakup of your site.

Data transfer refers to the amount of data you expect to be uploaded/downloaded each period. For example, a music download site transfers lots of data each month, where as a newspapers website transfers very little.
Reply:Alot of companies give you a lot of GB storage but restrict your bandwidth or data transfer. If you are not going to be adding and subtracting data, especially high bandwidth users like photos, then a low data transfer would be fine for you. It's not all about how much stuff you upload but most times it also includes what your users use or add/remove. Is your site a business site or just a personal page?
