I'm opening a web hosting company. Is it alright to have hosting without a control panel? Would I still get customers if my hosting packages don't include a control panel?
Web hosting question...?
I wouldn't suggest it. The point of having a control panel is to make it user friendly. In fact here is a list of the ones I know that exist.
Paid Control Panels
Cpanel - www.cpanel.net [FreeBSD, Redhat, Mandrake] (15 Day Demo License)
Plesk - www.plesk.com [RedHat, FreeBSD] (1 Domain Fully Functional License)
Ensim - www.ensim.com [RedHat, Windows] (14 Day Demo License)
H-Sphere - www.psoft.net [FreeBSD, Linux, Windows] (30 Days Demo License)
Helm - www.webhostautomation.com [Windows] (14 Day Demo License)
DirectPhp - www.directphp.com [RaQ] (15 Day Trial)
DSM - www.zervex.com [Linux]
Command Matrix - www.etrinix.com [Windows]
Hosting Controller - www.hostingcontroller.com [Windows] (30 Day Demo License)
Hosting Accelerator - www.hostingaccelerator.com [Windows] (30 Day Demo License)
Internet Acceleration and Management Server - www.guardiandigital.com [Linux]
DirectAdmin - www.directadmin.com [Linux FreeBSD 4.8 / 4.9 with 5.0 / 5.1 in beta]
Ikonware - www.ikonware.com [Redhat]
InterWorx Server Management Suite - http://interworx.info
InsPanel - http://www.inspanel.com [Windows] (Free and Paid available)
Free Control Panels
Webmin - www.webmin.com [_See Supported Platforms on Site_]
ASM - www.acctmgr.com [Linux, Unix]
