Free Web-Hosting,No Ads,NO cPanel...easy site builder?

I do not understand my cPanel...(I already have a paid hosting account). I want to make a couple of quick websites with an easy to use site builder/html editor and publish without having to FTP.

I already tried freewebs and 50webs. The problem is the ads!

(I also have domains so no sites that require registering a domain with them)

Anyone know any free hosting that fits the bill.

No ads (banners,popunders,pop-ups) and easy publishing/building NOT cPanel.
Free Web-Hosting,No Ads,NO cPanel...easy site builder?
Getting 'Free' web hosting is easy....there are many available.

And as you already know; the presents of ads is almost unavoidable!

There is one which you may like to try ....It's free also....is a cost-free, banner-free business hosting network that does NOT place annoying banners on members鈥?web pages.

Made a review on this particular service....go for the free service!

For a free hosting service, it is getting more praises then complaints. They are getting good rating on overall services, on their uptime and reliability, technical support and customer services.

It will be great for testing mini sites and new products.

There is also a write up on web hosting setting at:

Are common web hosting services like Godaddy the same as shared web hosting services?

Hi,

I want to know if Godaddy, HostGator,... are considered as shared servers or there are differences between mentioned services and a shared web server.

Thank you
Are common web hosting services like Godaddy the same as shared web hosting services?
I can only answer for GoDaddy as I'm a client. Yes. It's shared hosting unless you purchased a dedicated hosting plan which is $$$
Are common web hosting services like Godaddy the same as shared web hosting services?
First of all, though GoDaddy is okay for domain name registration, depending on the type of site you want to run, HostGator is a MUCH better option. See my review here...

http://www.hesitantrhino.com/build-your-...

But back to your question..

BOTH are shared hosting, or not, depending on what GRADE of hosting you've purchased.

The vast majority of websites are on shared hosting plans, unless you've got the budget and the web traffic to justify DEDICATED hosting, which is essentially you leasing an entire computer sitting in the server farm, to do with as you will. On HostGator, last time I checked in, a dedicated hosting account ran $300 a month. When you think of it as leasing an entire apartment building for your website (as compared to shared hosting, which is a one-bedroom unit), then that's pretty economical.

Note that there are places where you can get dedicated hosting for as low as $50 a month. As you compare providers, though, if you go that route, be very careful about the type of SUPPORT that is promised you. Maintenance? Backups? Technical assistance with configuration and troubleshooting problems?

If you know how to use SSH to log into a secure shell, and if you know your way around a Linux command prompt, then you're good to go. If not, you'll either need the extra assistance, or you'll have a lot of reading and research ahead of you.
Reply:Godaddy has both. Godaddy has shared hosting services. A lot of them have both. So to your specific question, yes. They are the same for all companies, except of course their services - Price, support level etc that are different. However, Godday has Virtual Dedicated and dedicated. Virtual dedicated is where you partition a physical server to two or more servers. Most of the problems that bedevil shared are not a problem here. More over, you can install any program that catches your fancy, both commercial and custom program. Dedicated is where only you have the whole server to yourself. As you can guess, Virtual Dedicated is less expensive than Dedicated. Most companies have shared anyway. Some companies like IXWebhosting and m6.net offer only shared hosting.
Reply:I've found a lot of information on web hosting, hopefully may help you:

Web hosting/domain?

okay I'm gonna ask again just to be sure....here is what is going on. I and this other girl(becky) were members of a site the original owner(brad) decided to give it to us. She transfered the domain name to me. then she transfered the host stuff to Becky. Well then Becky decides that she is the sole owner of the site and I have nothing to do with it anymore. I was wonder what having the domain in my name means and if there is anything that I can do? What is the difference between hosting and the domain? I am so mad lol I don't really now what to do. Thanks for the help!
Web hosting/domain?
You own the brand name and the store front, she owns the warehouse (host).

You can easily find a new warehouse(host), where as this becky girl cannot have your brand name/store front.

As owner of the domain name, you have the power to point the name to whatever host you please. You can point away from becky's host and have it point to your own host.
Web hosting/domain?
you own the domain and she owns the hosting?

You have the rights to the name of the site (i.e www.yahoo.com)

and she has the rights to the hosting of everything on the site, if you wish to have the site hosting moved you can get everything that is on the site and move it to your own hosting site, seen as you own the domain and everything is probably copyrighted to the domain on which it appears. She will then have to find her own domain, and copyright it to herself and really can't do that because you own the domain.
Reply:Well, you are definitely in a strategic point to call some shots. let me get this correct, you own the domain name, she (your friend) owns the host (space where the site pages are kept with the internet service provider), technically she owns the text, images and anything else on the website pages and anything that might be running them. But, you own the site name, whats a site without a name...? You can do whatever you please with that name. say, you could call the internet service provider(ISP) that hosts the website and tell them to transfer the name to another ISP because you want to host a different site. Basically, you can create your own version of the website and with caution not to pick anything from the one that already exists and take your domain name and use it for your new site, and her customers/visitors will now be yours, and all she has is the web pages with no name....so the way it looks to me you have the upper hand, since you own the name, she only owns the pages, so get new space with the current ISP or another one and use the name for new remodelled pages... :)
Reply:who ever the one that has there name on on there is the web host and owner i know i onw my own web on here i have had it for the last 3 years and im going to start it back up again

well if the people at the top arent giving you access then your stuffed and tell them to bog off as well.

If some one manages and designs the site for you then they wouldnt normally give YOU access to the controll panel anyway. You'd have to pay them for their time to log in and remove the fullstop where it wasnt supposto be.

Just move to another hosting company or host your own site.

Web Hosting, PHP and Pearl Question?

I've looked at 1and1 hosting and their Home option. They say they offer PHP 5 on their hosting but don't offer pearl. Now do I need pearl in order to run PHP websites, would it be beneficial? Their Business option allows PHP and Pearl but should I folk out the extra cash for it?

Jassi
Web Hosting, PHP and Pearl Question?
Perl and PHP are 2 different programming languages. If you are planning on running a PHP site, you do not need Perl to do that.
Web Hosting, PHP and Pearl Question?
As you can't even spell PERL then you probably don't know what it is, and so don't need it.

Edit: Getting it wrong once is a mistake. 4 times means you don't know what it is. It's as simple as that.
Reply:You don't really need Perl to run dynamic websites. Most of the opensource scripts today doesn't rely on Perl, and doesn't require perl for it to run. You just need PHP, and alos a MySQL database to run an awesome and powerful database driver website.

For example, a joomla from joomla.org, it's a CMS and written in PHP, but it doesn't need Perl for you to run it. Also drupal from drupal.org, it only needs PHP, and MySQL. Just make sure your webhost has an SQL or MySQL database so that you can make use of it.

Here are some of the best webhosting companies I can recommend to you:

http://godaddy.com

Reply:You usually use PHP in combination with mysql if you are building any website with a database. I would say you'll be good with mysql support in addition to php and wouldn't worry about perl for now.

Reply:There are plenty web hosts which offer PHP, Perl and a whole heap more. You don't say what your website is for, but believe me, if you don't have something you'll find that you need it a couple of months from now.

I'd be surprised if 1%26amp;1 doesn't offer Perl (the package must be VERY basic). Perl is a scripting language, which is quite often used to provide web forms, counters and other bits and pieces. If you are running a true PHP system, then you probably don't need it, but if your intention is to run something like a Content Manangement system or ecommerce package, make sure it provides the MySQL database that you would then need.

There are servers that offer that security, but for a pretty penny. You will have to pay for the security.

Excellent web hosting server?

I'm hosting my site on an really fast and reliable server. The server is way more than what my site needs. I'm looking for someone to share the extra space and bandwidth with. Here is the cost and detail:

5,000 Mb of dedicated disk space.

50, 000 Mb of dedicated bandwidth per month.

Multi site hosting

PHP, MySQL, Cpanel, Fantastico and everything else for professional package with 24 hours live support.

$9.99/month total

(I pay $59.95/month for 30 Gig space, 300 Gig bandwidth, so $9.99 is just equal pricing, I'm not looking to make profit, just 2-3 people to share this server.)

If you're frustrated with oversold-shared hosting, slow speed and frequent down time, please try this server. I'll give everyone 30 days money back so you can test this server.

Excellent web hosting server?
For fully integrated support for ASP/ASP.net window dedicated server would be the best.
Reply:Choose The Right Price - Last and certainly not the least, a good reasonable price is your final measure for a good web hosting company. Many web hosting sites offer a range of hosting packages ranging from entry level budget packages to the more enterprise-grade packages for corporations and power users. Each package defines the maximum bandwidth, CPU power and hard drive space as well as the online tools you can avail yourself of to manage your website. Most reputable web hosts do have comparable packages. About the few things differentiating them are the management tools used. And often, other service features like 24/7 technical support and user-friendliness can clinch your decision. It's really your choice based on what you believe gives the best value for the price you are willing to pay

Web Hosting Vista - ISS 7?

Web Hosting Vista - ISS 7?
Please forgive me if I don't answer your question directly; It may be just my opinion, but IIS in general and IIS 7 in particular are quite convoluted, clumsy and insecure products.

I have no pre-concieved bias against Microsoft products, but I've worked with companies that used IIS in production systems. Despite all warnings they got hosed badly when security holes were discovered and exploited.

Vista access-control annoyances make things even worse, without solving any real problems.

As an alternative, I suggest considering XAMPP, which is user-friendly bundle of Apache and other goodies, that takes care of most installation and configuration issues. Also, setting virtual servers for Apache is well-documented and established procedure.

Web hosting/e-commerce?

Even an old man like Myself can see that e-commercce is the future, and while I consider My self to be fairly comfortable with using th einternet and computers, I am a long way from being an expert on building web sites, and setting up e-commerce accounts. So I have some questions I would like to understand better before I proceed with establsihing My own web business...

I am going to have to start with some kind of a “welcome page” which I am pretty sure I can handle.

But from there I want to split between a “free tour” and a “members login”page.

The free tour is probably nothing more than linking other web pages which are no more complicated than the welcome page??? But the members sign in page, how would I go about setting that up???

I am also going to what some way of billing My customers for their montlhy memberships and for on line purchases, which I am guessing would invovle something like pay pals and a link to an e-commerce capable bank account which I think I have with washington mutual.

I want the ability to up load videos and music for viewing and sale.

And I am going to want an on line catolog of merchandise related to My business.

I am also going to want some kind of members only chat room.

And I want to have some kind of live auction capability.

I am going to bet that there are other things I am going to need to know that I amnot even aware of yet, and I am hoping that with this e-mail I can get started and then as I have other questions and problems I will be able to seek guidence and advice from ????

Thank You for your Assistance.
Web hosting/e-commerce?
You have a tall order to fill, my friend. So slow down! This kind of business takes an expert in not only web design, but in PHP, MySQL, and CSS. And that is just to start. You dont want to be making every page by hand. By using these, you will be able to make the site interactive and dynamic. If you cant do this or dont know what Im talking about, you need to consult an expert to either teach you or do it for you. I dont know how to do a chat room...but you will need a good databaser to have any sort of login page, a place to store all those customer's information, a way to charge them monthly automatically, unless they pay per product they view...

You will need to get a merchant account, usually through your bank, and set up a shopping cart on your site, after people login, to put their credit card info in. you need to capture that info (Databasing again) to incur recurring monthly charges.

It is a lot of info, but really, it isnt THAT hard if you already have the products you want to sell. You just need a good databaser/programmer.
Web hosting/e-commerce?
Hi,

Listen! I will tell you what is involved in creating your own Web site.

Don't fall prey to those "Free" Web site builders that only give you a few pages. However, NVU, is a free Web site builder that allows you to build Web sites right, for free and as many pages as your want, thousands even.. More on that later.

Just creating a Web site will not attact targeted traffic. What is traffic?

Glad you asked because it's the heart and soul of a Web site's success.

Listen! Targeted traffic is the name of the game. Without traffic your Web site will be invisible to the search engines (Google, MSN, Yahoo, Ask). There are others, but they a insignificant compared to the majors.

Targeted traffic is visitors coming to your Web site for information. They are not looking for your Web site. Nope. They are looking for relevant information. If your Web site is just a few pages, the search engines will never find you.

Most new people to Web site building will fall prey to the many so-called "free" web sites and waste a lot of time on them and achieve little in the way of targeted traffic. The theme of your Web site should be something you are very interested in (http://passion.sitesell.com/waltera1.htm... It just doesn't make sense to create a Web site and then have it ignored by the search engines (SEs). The major SEs are Google, Yahoo!, MSC, and Ask. If they don't know you are there, your Web site, for all practical purpose, is invisible. SEs find you when you have lots of content - many pages of information, relevant to the theme of your Web site.

You see, there are thousands of web sites that purport to create a free Web site. What they don't tell you is how to attract targeted traffic via the search engines (Yahoo,Google,Msn, Ask). Web site creation is all you get. Amazon has a program to tell you how popular your Web site is here: (http://traffic-test.sitesell.com/waltera... The program is called Alexa and it will compare a Web site to 65 million active Web sites and give you a rank as to how you stand in that 65 million Web site universe. 500,000 is good, but anything under 100,000 is terriffic. Google is under 10 the last time I looked. If your Web site is not recognized by the SEs, then your Alexa rank will be "no data". A no date rank means the Web site is invisible to the SEs. Invisible means no visitors, no visitors means no targeted traffic, no traffic = no money. Creating your Web site was a waste of time.

And you might be able to create 5 or 10 pages at most, even less, before they begin to nickel and dime you to death with add-ons that cost money and before you know it the "free" web site costs over $300 and more, assuming you don't drop out by this time because the Web site just doesn't work and you may have wasted a year on this fruitless effort.

Many people new to Web site creation believe that you just create a Web site and they will come. Like the baseball movie, Field of Dreams (1989), where Kevin Costner creates a baseball field in the middle of nowhere and soon thousands are flocking to the field.

This only happens in the movies, not in real life.

You must attract the search engines(SEs). The most cost effective way to do that is by creating lots of Web pages with quality, relevant content (information) that matches user's needs and requirements for information..

Potential visitors do not look for a web site per se. They do not enter your Web Address. They are looking for information. They do not enter your Web site URL into an SE. They enter keywords or phrases into the SE and the SE responds with millions of Web sites in many cases and then the surfer may make his keyword more relevant and try again. Most surfers only look at the first few pages even though there may be millions of hits on a particular keyword.

So the first thing you must do is to brainstorm you keywords - which keywords are relevant to the theme of your Web site.

But this is not enough. Remember the concept of supply and demand?

Let me explain. If there is a low supply of something, say a commodity like coffee, that means that there is not much available. What happens if many people all want a lot of coffee. That creates a big demand for coffee, but when they go to buy coffee the price has gone up. It went up because the demand exceeded the supply. This causes the coffee growers to grow more coffee. They grow too much and there is a big supply, so the price drops because the demand has dropped owing to the increase in the supplies of coffee.

The same concept can be applied to keywords or phrases. Really scarce keywords with hardly any supply related to your Web site theme.

How do you find those keywords that have a huge demand and very little supply?

Aye, that's the rub.

One of the ways to do this without spending any money is to use Google's AdWord tool: (https://adwords.google.com/select/Keywor...

This tool is actually intended to help advertisers decide which keywords to buy. It provides Demand (they call it "Search Volume") and "Advertiser Competition" (another kind of Demand for your keywords!). This tool even provides the "monetary value" (optional) of your keywords (i.e., what advertisers can expect to pay).

So what do you (a publisher (a Web site builder), not an advertiser) look for? Remember this for now...

* the more relevant keywords that are generated by this tool,

* the greater the Demand ("Search Volume") for the keywords,

* the greater the "Advertiser Competition", and

* the more the keywords cost advertisers...

... the better for you!

Just go through the tutorials that Google has to offer.

The other tool for keywords is Worktracker - it is not free, but is the best on the Web for analyzing keyword demand and supply: (http://www.wordtracker.com/index.html). Try their free trial. I entered "free keyword analysis" into Google and got 11 million hits so you know it's a hot topic.

Once you know what your keywords are, they form the basis of creating Web pages for your Web site. You sprinkle relevant keywords throughout your Web page. These will attract the SEs and if you have enough pages, you will rise up through the ranks and hopefully achieve a listing on the first page of the SEs.

The SEs use software called "spiders". The spiders job is to crawl the entire universe of Web sites and index them by keyword. The database index is why they can return an answer so fast because there are now a billion Web sites or so and still growing fast.

You keep adding pages to your Web site - the more pages the better. That's why the phrase, "Content is King!" came about. The SEs love lots of high quality content.

That's also why most 5 - 10 page Web sites attract no targeted traffic. The SEs just ignore them.

However, all is not lost because once you get to about 30 pages, the SEs begin to take notice. When you reach 50 pages, you may see a page ranked number one in an SE, but don't stop there. Keep adding pages - just one a day would mount up to 365 in one year.

Now, where do you find software that can build your Web site. Here is one that is free and it's a lot like Microsoft's Front Page. These are sometimes called WYSIWYG editors, pronounced "wizeewhig" and means "What You See Is What You Get". Another more expensive editor is Macromedia's Dreamweaver, but this costs several hundred dollars.

The Web site for the free WYSIWYG is: (http://www.nvu.com/index.php). NVU; pronounced "New View". There are free tutorial there. More tutorials can be found by entering "free nvu tutorials" in Google.

You may want to try GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program). This is a free graphics editor that rivals best of breed Adobe Photoshop. There are free tutorials for GIMP, too here: (http://www.designyourownweb.com/gimp-tut...

Check out Sea Monkey at: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonke... It has a Web-browser, advanced e-mail and newsgroup client, IRC chat client, and HTML editing made simple -- all your Internet needs in one application. And it's free.

Once you have your Web site constructed on your PC or Mac, then you need to get a domain name and a server host.. This will cost money, $10 to $300 per year depending on options. About the cheapest with the most options is GoDaddy. Go here: (http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.as...

Once you have your domain name and host, you upload your Web site to your hosting supplier or server and you are published on the web. As you create more pages, you continue to upload those pages to your host server.

That's what it takes to get published, but we are not done yet. We now have to get recognized by the SEs. If you have enough high quality content and are patient, eventually the SEs will discover you. Impatient people use something called Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or Internet Marketing. Here is a new book that does just that: "Search Engine Optimization - An Hour A Day" by Jennifer Grappone and Gradiva Couzin.

All free webhosts will allow you to use dreamweaver or any other application.
Reply:Basically, any web host that gives you FTP access will do. Most free ones give you that, but here is one that doesn't mangle your HTML code by putting in advertisements, and you get five FTP accounts, so if you're working with people on a project, you can each have your own username and password...

Reply:You certainly certainly upload a dreamweaver site to a free host. I do it all the time. The host I use is 000webhost.com. They offer you 250MB disk space and 100 GB bandwidth - completely free with absolutely no ads. Fast server too.

Check it out: http://www.000webhost.com/?id=23996
Reply:If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don't go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 1500000 MB (1500 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

You may just need to clear cookies or try to access the page from a different computer (blocked by firewall or proxy). As for talking to a real person at yahoo, try Yahoo customer service, and just keep escalating (saying you want to talk to a real person about the issue). If you're patient, eventually you will get a real person.

Reply:Yes there are heaps of web hosting providers that can help you with unlimited site on one hosting account. Its called multi host normally and most good providers offer it. You will need to also think about not just the fact that you can host lots of site but also whether you are going to need database support and other types of services also. From my own experience using multi host many offer the world for a low cost but then they offer crappy backup and customer services. Also to get the best deal you will need to sign up for either a 12 or 24 month plan. Personally I use hostgator and find them very good fast responce when you need help and good prices.

Web hosting - Address bar will not update when browsing my site.?

Hey all :)

I'm sort of new in this whole "hosting" realm. I've finally coded a site and am currently hosting it through godaddy.com. I'm able to browse through my site's pages and forum just fine by using the links I provided. The problem, however, resides with my url not auto updating. If I type in www.sitename.com in the address bar, it will take me to my home page. If I navigate through my site to the forums, it still just says www.sitename.com. Shouldn't it correspond with how I have my folders set up on the ftp? I was hoping my forums section would give the following url: www.sitename.com/forum.

Again, I'm a noob when it comes to hosting :P I know just enough to make nice little site with some info. What do I need to configure in order to get my address bar to update?

Thanks!
Web hosting - Address bar will not update when browsing my site.?
That's odd. Have you tried tech support yet? They should be able to get into your account and take a look. You should have a directory in your hosting account mysite/forum. If you type in the actual forum address in the address bar does it go to your forum (i.e. www.mysite.com/forum/index.php)?

Sounds like a tech support issue if your web browser doesn't have this problem with other sites and just yours.

Reply:I moved to godaddy this morning with 23 domains, and up until last year I managed 172 or so.. and have had quite a few servers and hosting plans... I have found you get what you pay for.. If you want to be lumped into a server with 300 other domains that are hogging the bandwidth and processor then you will pay less... on godaddy, for $79 a month you can get a dedicated server all your own for your domains, I got the next one up for $129 a month and am tickled with it.. I requested and got the raid1 mirror with the two 120 drives.. Nothing like keeping your data safe! Even with a dedicated server before, by upgrading to this new one, the speed increase was noticable even to the people visiting and we have lots of room to grow! Although moving these domains with over 15000 files and 5 databases, some with over 1000 tables, it took a lot to move and sychronize things to have minimum down time.. but it was worth every minute of time spent.

Hosting web Server on Verizon DSL?

I use verizon DSL, I intend to host a web Server on my system, as anyone using verizon DSL ever successfully Hosted one,

with no issues whatsoever
Hosting web Server on Verizon DSL?
Hmmm. Not the best idea, espeicially if you plan to put anything important on it.

Servers served thru ISP's are slow. Hosting via Verizon DSL will be slow, especially if you have the 786 Kbps package.

Hosting providers generally have atleast T3 lines... you likely don't have more than 3.0Mbps download and 1.5Mbps upload (the midlevel Verizon DSL package) When someone is calling to your server, it will be like an upload, so it will be at that slower rate. So, although your DSL might kick @ss in terms of speed for your own use, can you imagine how slow your web pages will serve up if you are downloading MP3's off the net while 2 people are trying to download your AVI files on your website which is on your server sharing your bandwidth with your downloads?

If you are hosting anything vital, I would definitely recommend using a colocated server with 24/7 support. If you are just hosting to entertain yourself - you know, a website with your blog and pics of your pets, then having your own server is ok. however, if you have mission critical stuff that needs to have no downtime, don't host on your own. You'll need to be able to deal with your server 24/7 (can't do a remote reboot if your server is down and you can't even ping it).

I highly recommend co-location, because you don't want the stress of having to deal with your server when it goes down at 2:00 a.m. the day before a test/presentation at work, or whatever you do in your real life.

Good luck.

How would have sell web applications without hosting them?

How would have sell web applications without hosting them?
Put ads in magazines, papers and other publishing media which works in the area of product audiance. Then distribute sample CDs by advertising them.

To do all of the above you need to spend lot of time and energy and offcourse, money! So If I will be in your place I will go with a website which features the demo.

But can you share why you want to distribute it over CD instead of the web? If we understand your product may be we can help you in that regards.
How would have sell web applications without hosting them?
I don't know. To be honest I would not buy it unless I see a working demo and there was a support website for it.

I can easily do a simple web-site for you, get in touch with me at thekateress@hotmail.com letting me know what sort of thing you'd like and I'll happily do it quickly for a really low price. I obviously can't give you an estimate until I know exactly what you're after but for one or two pages, with a domain name too, I'd say you're looking at no more than 拢200 all together. It would also be helpful to know the project's name (so I can find a good domain name) and what sort of colour scheme you'd like.

If you'd like to see examples of my previous work see www.nutkinhouse.co.uk or www.hawksonwalks.co.uk - although they are quite similar they do give a feel for the sort of thing on offer. References can be obtained from the relevant business owners.

I'm an amateur web designer, and I'm hosting 5 web sites on my server. How much is too much?

I have 5 web sites hosted on my server (these are brochure sites - no enormous traffic) and I'm wondering if this is acceptable from a performance standpoint? How much is too much when utilizing hosting space (purchased from third party)? Are there tools that can provide information in regard to this? How can I find out if I can keep using the same hosting (and save $), or if I need to purchase more hosting space to make the traffic optimal to all my sites? No sales pitches, please. Thanks.

The number of SITES (domains) that you host with one account isn't really an issue... it could be 5 or 50. What matters is, how close are you to reaching the traffic limit of your account? And how important is it that ALL of those sites are up 100% of the time?

Let's compare 5 sites on ONE account to 5 sites on SEPARATE accounts...

If all 5 are on one account as they are now, what happens when ONE of your sites gets mentioned in the news, or on 20/20 or 60 Minutes, and that site ends up getting swamped with so much unanticipated traffic that your hosting company temporarily suspends the account.

With all five sites on ONE account, ALL FIVE will be suspended. With the sites in SEPARATE accounts, you've still got four sites up and running.

There is one measure you can use to get around this to some degree, instead of the expense and administrative hassle of opening up five separate accounts...

Go with a hosting company that allows you to have a RESELLER account. Even when the only one you're "selling" the space to is yourself, this way you can specify exactly how much disk space and bandwidth is alloted to each domain name, so if one goes over, the others are still up and running.

If your maximum bandwidth can handle 5 different sites being accessed, there is nothing stopping you hosting all 5 in one place.

I currently run 3 websites from one hosting package and never have any problems because my bandwidth allowance is high enough to cope with it.

The only thing you may need to pay extra for is the URLs for each site :)
Reply:Depends on the specs on your server or host. Can't really tell without what the specs are on the server. If they aren't high traffic sites and don't use a ton of code or resources, then you're probably all set with what you got. Again, it's hard to tell without the server specs.

Web Site Hosting and Marketing?

I have an idea for a website that will essentially be selling one product. I pretty much have the design sorted but have to incorporate credit card payment facilities. Is this one of the jobs "hosting" does? what else does it do? any reliable recommendations to a hosting site?

Totally confused re site marketing...Pay per click, adwords, adsense etc. I can trawl through the web for info but is there an organisation or course or central source where I can attend/access a complete picture?
Web Site Hosting and Marketing?
If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting , they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ).

Visit the site to check details.

Web Site Hosting and Marketing?
Hi,

Most hosting companies do not do search engine marketing which is what you need to get lots of traffic coming to your Web site. Some will do it as an added feature, but it's anybodies guess on how effective it is.

Google AdSense is a free service to the Web site publisher and when someone clicks on AdSense, you make a little money. Google places ads on your Web site based on a keyword analysis of your pages. You add the code provided by Google to your Web pages. This html code is invisible to visitors and provides Google with a method to stick ads in your Web pages.

Google AdWords is not free. You create the ad and Google will place them on its searched pages. You bid on the keywords. The highest bidder gets placed at the top of the pile. When someone clicks on your AdWord, it cost you money. Some AdWords cost $.10, but they can run as high as $20 or more. You are allowed to put a limit on how much you spend and when that limit is reached, Google pulls your ad. AdWords is not for beginners - you can lose your shirt.

AdWords is also called pay-per-click (PPC).

Listen! Here are some tips on creating your own Web site.

Once you have your Web site constructed on your PC or Mac, then you need to get a domain name and a server host.. This will cost money, $10 to $300 per year depending on options. About the cheapest with the most options is GoDaddy. Go here: (http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.as...

There are free hosting sites, but you have to put up with their advertising all over your pages. There is really no "free lunch"; there's always a catch.

Then, there is Brad Tabke's "26 steps to 15K a day". It boils down to solid content thoughtfully put together can make more impact than a decade's worth of tweaks that may or may not work such as fiddling with META tags. Find his 26 steps here: (http://www.frihost.com/forums/vt-2797.ht... Brad also created and runs one of the best forums for Web site building information at: (http://www.webmasterworld.com/).

I would really be remiss if I did not mention how I created my Web sites. They were created with Site Build It! a Web site builder developed by Sitesell, Inc., a Canadian company that has been around since 1967 and has helped people world-wide to create their own Web sites (over 20,000). Web hosting is included in the price. It does all of the above utilizing 50 programs that build working Web sites (http://results.sitesell.com/waltera1.htm... No geeky knowledge required. Hardly any PC knowledge is necessary and it creates pages fast and uploads them to the host server automatically.

You may want to check it out, before going it alone. A forum is offered that gives budding Web site builders lots of help.

Reply:If all you have is one product then a good solution for you might be to contract with a payment processing company that provides a securely hosted online payment form.

This means you can host your website on any service you choose and not have to worry about buying and configuring the security certificate and SSL encrypted directory (https) you would need to host your own payment page or shopping cart.

PaySimple (www.paysimple.com) provides a payment gateway that includes a securely hosted payment form--all you need to do is link to it from your website using a buy now button or some other similar link. Your customer would then enter payment information on the secure form and the money would be deposited directly into your bank account (unlike PayPal where they hold the money and then transfer it to your PayPal account).

With PaySimple you can get approved to accept credit card payments, or ACH payments (direct debits from your customer's checking accounts.) Their rates are typically lower than PayPal.

Here's a page where you can compare various payment gateway solutions:

For information on internet marketing, take a look at the Resource Directory at WDFM (bottom of the page)--it is a fantastic resource that reviews many tools used for internet (search engine, email, etc.) marketing:

I have used them for years you won't be dissapointed.

For payment processing you should use www.paypal.com .They are a perfect solution for an online store. It is really easy to create your shopping cart buttons and things using their merchant tools.

For advertising You could try google adwords. http://www.google.com/ads

It's really easy to set up an advertising campaign and you can control how much you spend daily, $1, $5 whatever your budget is.

Also don't forget to get free advertising using link exchanges.Look for sites simlilar to yours and see if they would like to exchange links. You won't get a lot of traffic from it but it's free and worth it!

Good Luck!
